Sight
Using objects and
pictures as focal points
allows you to concentrate and, when
needed,
have a distraction. Choose
precious
mementos, religious symbols
or other
items as anchors during labor.
Smell
Different scents and
aromas elicit various
emotional responses and physical
experiences. Make sure to read the
article
on "Aromatherapy for Labor."
Sound
Choose music to be
played during
childbirth and different selections for the
different stages of labor. Pick a song or
lullaby
to be played as
your baby enters
the world!
Keep in mind
I have created a beautiful
Birthing CD,
one for little boys
and one for
little girls.
Or
you may even have a
custom
tape made
especially for your
birthing experience. By listening to this
visualization throughout your pregnancy,
you will become intimately more connected
to your baby and at the same time better
prepared to manage birth pain during the
labor and delivery process. The CD blends
together splendid visual
imagery,
soothing relaxation
accompanied by
classical guitar.
Touch
So much is happening to
your body
physically during your pregnancy and
childbirth. Allow yourself to be touched
and be sure to let your labor coach know
what type of touch is comforting and what
is not.
